The Rt Hon The Lord Imbert CVO QPM DL
Lord Imbert, the former Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (1998-2008) and Metropolitan Police Commissioner (1987-1993), has died aged 84. He was a much-liked and well-respected Lord-Lieutenant and celebrated for his commitment to open policing as Commissioner. He appointed a number of Deputy Lieutenants, some of whom are still surviving. Peter is survived by his wife, Iris, and their son and two daughters.
The current Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Kenneth Olisa OBE, paid tribute to his predecessor: “Peter’s passing is very sad news indeed. He contributed so much to London and was very kind to me on my appointment. The Lieutenancy’s thoughts are with Iris and his family”.
