HM The Queen unveils portrait of SOE operative Noor-un-Nisa Inayat Khan GC

Her Majesty The Queen unveiled a portrait of a Special Operations Executive and named a room for the Executive, Noor-un-Nisa Inayat Khan GC, at the Royal Air Force Club, 128 Piccadilly, London W1, and, having been received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir Kenneth Olisa), attended a Reception.

Ms Khan was the first agent to be infiltrated into enemy occupied France to aid the French Resistance during the Second World War, landing in the country in June 1943. She was posthumously awarded the George Cross in 1949.
