Lord-Lieutenant plants a tree for the Jubilee

The Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, was joined by his Vice Lord-Lieutenant, a group of his Deputy Lieutenants and representatives from The Royal Parks and the mental health charity, Lindengate, at a ceremonial tree planting in Regent’s Park to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.  Three Black Poplar trees were planted, two of which were donated by The Royal Parks and one which was purchased by the Greater London Lieutenancy from Lindengate.  The planting was part of The Queen’s Green Canopy Initiative.

The Lord-Lieutenant said:

“We have all been through a challenging time with the pandemic and Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee next year is the perfect opportunity for Londoner’s to come together and celebrate this remarkable milestone in our country’s history.  I encourage everyone to get involved with The Queen’s Green Canopy and plant a tree for the Jubilee.”
