Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

The Earl Cadogan DL

Appointed Rep DL: 2022

After leaving school, the Earl Cadogan joined the Royal Air Force in 1987 and served for 12 years in the RAF Regiment.  In 2002 he joined his local Territorial Army regiment (51 Highland), becoming Commanding Officer of 7 SCOTS in February 2010.  He handed over command at the end of 2012 but has remained an active member of the Army Reserve for the past 22 years, fulfilling a variety of roles.

Since 2016 he has been an Honorary Colonel with 6 Regiment Army Air Corps, with whom he got his Army Air Corps Wings, having already gained his fixed wing Private Pilot’s Licence at the age of 19.  In January 2020, he became Honorary Group Captain, 601 Squadron.

In 2015, he joined the Queen’s Bodyguard for Scotland (now the King’s Bodyguard for Scotland), Royal Company of Archers.  He is Vice Patron: Blind Veterans UK, Vice Patron: Ulysses Trust, Vice President of the Chelsea Society and an active supporter of The Prince’s Trust.

Having been made a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London in October 2012, in October 2022 he became the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Kensington & Chelsea.

He is Chairman of the family company, Cadogan Estates Limited, and also enjoys spending time on the family’s Scottish estate in Perthshire.  His other involvements include Cadogan Hall Limited (Chair), The Royal Hospital Chelsea Appeal Limited (Volunteer Fundraiser), The Committee of the Friends of the Royal Hospital (Chair), The Turquoise Mountain Trust (Trustee) and the Natural History Museum (formerly a Trustee and now a volunteer fundraiser).

He divides his time between London and Scotland.  He spends his spare time keeping fit, engaging in country pursuits, skiing and leading an outdoor, active life.

Having been made a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London in October 2012, in October 2022 he became the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Kensington & Chelsea.
