Harvard and Oxford educated, Roxane Zand began a career in museum and arts administration after three years in UNESCO. She left Iran after the Revolution to resume professional activities in London in the field of education and the arts, and as one of the founding members of the Harvard Club of London. She was an officer of the Iran Heritage Foundation before moving to Asia House, as well as freelance consultancies for numerous projects for the British Museum and elsewhere in the art world before joining Sothebys in 2006 where she is now Deputy Chairman for the Middle East. Currently she sits on the Advisory Council of the Pictet Art Prize, roxane-zandthe Development Board of the University of the Arts London, and has been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in London. She is also arts editor for the Encyclopaedia Islamica. At Sothebys she has played an instrumental role in developing and contributing to sales of Arab and Iranian art, and has conducted a number of charity auctions to benefit causes in the MENA region.

Presentation of the King’s Award for Enterprise – 365 Business Finance, 12 September 2024

Grand Opening of Caldesi Belsize Restaurant, Tuesday 30 April 2024

Roxane Zand (RDL for Camden) attended the grand opening of Caldesi Belsize Restaurant – a neighbourhood Italian restaurant Giancarlo and Katie Caldesi.  The restaurant is based in Belsize Lane.

The opening was a splendid event attended by the local community, including local community leader, Bob Padron OBE.

Representative Deputy Lieutenant, Roxane Zand, presents DL Cadet certificates, Monday 29th April 2024

At a ceremony at Camden Town Hall, certificates were awarded to the Deputy Lieutenant’s Cadets.  The event was attended by the Mayor of Camden, Councillor Nazma Rahman.


Remembrance Day ceremonies in Islington and Camden – Thursday 9th November 2023

Remembrance Day ceremonies took place at Islington and St Pancras cemeteries, offering an occasion to commemorate the loss of lives and silent reflection.

Camden From Pub to Pulpit – Saturday 14th October 2023

Roxane Zand – Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Camden – attended the final concert of the From Pub to Pulpit tour at St Michael’s Church, Camden Town on Saturday 14th October as a fundraiser for St Michael’s Church.

This hugely successful concert tour by the company has seen thousands of people across the country singing together to turn folk songs into hymns and this final concert was an emotional and a joyful occasion for all.   The company was delighted to be able to bring the concert to St Michael’s, where Father Michael and his team are so supportive and welcoming.

 

 


Roxane Zand – Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Camden – visits Food for All foodbank on 21 September 2023

Roxane visited Food for All to find out more about the work of the charity’s foodbank in Camden. Food For All provides warm and nutritious meals to those in need both in London and around the world. The charity’s current emergency appeal is to fundraise and support its efforts for those in need following the earthquake in Morocco.

 


Big Lunch event at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery – 8 May 2023

Staff at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery working on the additional bank holiday to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, were treated to tea and cakes as part of a Big Lunch event organised by the hospital’s charity, The National Brain Appeal.

The afternoon tea-themed event was part of Iceland Foods’ partnership with Eden Communities’ The Big Lunch – an initiative to bring communities together over the Coronation weekend.  A selection of cakes and snacks were provided by Iceland Foods who, along with their charitable foundation, have entered into a charity partnership with The National Brain Appeal.

Roxane Zand, Camden’s Representative Deputy Lieutenant, dropped in to meet staff. She said:

“It was a wonderful opportunity to meet some of the staff on duty at The National Hospital over the Coronation weekend and to thank them for their hard work looking after their patients.”

Roxane was joined by Theresa Dauncey, chief executive of The National Brain Appeal, and Lindsey Brummitt, programme director of The Eden Project, who organised The Big Lunch.

BeOnSite – Queen’s Award for Enterprise – October 2022

Ms Roxane Zand – Representative Deputy Lieutenant of Camden – presented a Queen’s Award for Enterprise to BeOnsite in Camden. BeOnsite won the prestigious award in April 2022 in the category of promoting opportunity through social mobility.

BeOnsite is a social enterprise, which focuses on helping people from excluded groups find sustained employment in the property sector.  The enterprise helps people start a career in the construction industry.


Proclamation Reading – Sunday 11 September 2022

Ms Roxane Zand – Representative Deputy Lieutenant of Camden – attended the Reading of the Proclamation at Russell Square Gardens, Camden.


The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – London Borough of Camden Beacon Lighting 

The Representative Deputy Lieutenant of Camden, Ms Roxane Zand celebrated the Platinum Jubilee with the lighting of a beacon at Russell Square Gardens on Thursday 2 June. Residents were invited to join the ceremony and watch the Mayor of Camden lighting the beacon.

Representative Deputy Lieutenant of Camden, Ms Roxane Zand and the Mayor of Camden visited JW3, as part of the Covid Heroes initiative, to hear more about  the volunteer programme, the Food Bank, the distribution challenges, and other topics.

 

         


Representative Deputy Lieutenant of Camden, Ms Roxane Zand, visited Belsize Streatery on the 11th September.  Mr Robert “Bob” Stephenson-Padron, managing director of Penrose Care and co-coordinator, Belsize Village Business Association, gave a history of Belsize Village and how it has now been transformed into a vibrant ‘village’ community where visitors feel welcome and engage with local businesses.

Cllr Sabrina Francis, Mayor of Camden; Cllr Adam Harrison, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Camden, Camden Council; Cllr Anne Clarke AM (Labour), London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden, Aya Khazaal, owner of Pivoine Nail Spa and co-coordinator, Belsize Village Business Association and Robert “Bob” Stephenson-Padron managing director of Penrose Care and co-coordinator, Belsize Village Business Association were all in attendance.

MBE for Castlehaven Community Association’s Eleanor Botwright

 

Eleanor Botwright received her award at the Town Hall in Camden, It was presented to her by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE.
