Mr Stuart Shilson LVO DL

Stuart is a Senior Partner of McKinsey & Company. He studied at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and the Inns of Court School of Law in Clerkenwell before being called to the Bar by the Middle Temple. After a number of years in practice, he joined McKinsey’s London office in 1997. From 1999 to 2000 he was a Senior Civil Servant in the Cabinet Office, and from 2001 to 2004 was Assistant Private Secretary to The Queen (for which he was appointed LVO). Throughout his career he has combined a busy professional life with providing extensive support to a number of charities; these include The Order of St John where Stuart has spent more than 20 years, including as President of the Richmond & Watney Mortlake Division of the St John Ambulance and ultimately as a member of The Order’s worldwide governing body. Stuart is a Fellow of Goodenough College, London, and a member of the Court of the Drapers’ Company which focuses its charitable activities on education, the armed forces, social exclusion and mental health in London. He also serves as an Honorary Steward at Westminster Abbey.

GWR Poppies to Paddington Remembrance Service – Friday 10th November 2023

Great Western Railway (GWR) marked the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War with a Remembrance service at Paddington Station attended by the community, Nicola Aiken MP and Deputy Lieutenant, Mr Gareth Neame OBE DL.

Six ‘Poppy’ trains collected more than 200 wreaths from GWR stations across the network ahead of the service at Paddington’s iconic war memorial on Platform 1. GWR especially remembered the 81,000-Armed Forces personnel who took part in the Korean conflict, particularly those of the Gloucester Regiment and the Royal Fusiliers, who were involved in some of the heaviest fighting.


Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Windrush – Sunday 25 June 2023

Mr Stuart Shilson, RDL for Westminster, attended the Windrush 75 celebrations at the  Parish church of St John the Evangelist, Kensal Green on Sunday 25 June.  The celebrations included the opening of the new Woodland Garden and, in the presence of the Bishop of London, the Windrush Choral Evensong to give thanks to those who came to Britain aboard The Empire Windrush 75 years ago.

The Church’s Children’s Jubilee Choir and the Choir of St Mark’s Hamilton Terrace gave the premiere performance of All Are One, a new work by Dawn Walters commissioned for the occasion.

The Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations

Paddington  Recreation Ground Big Lunch

Their Royal Highnesses Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie visited the Westminster Platinum Jubilee Lunch at Paddington Recreation Ground on Sunday June 5th 2022 and were received by Kevin Traverse-Healy DL.

On Friday 3rd June, the Chinese Information and Action Centre, Chinatown, presented Westminster representative Deputy Lieutenant, Mr Kevin Traverse-Healy DL, with a collage created by children of the community in tribute to HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Westminster.

Mr. Kevin Traverse-Healy presented the Cadet Certificates and Duke of Edinburgh Awards to the Westminster Volunteer Police Cadets on the 21st October . The Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster also attended.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration Ceremony at Central Hall Westminster, Storey’s Gate, London SW1, and were received by Mr. Kevin Traverse-Healy (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Dr Paul Knapman, Honorary Colonel of the Westminster Dragoons, attended the D Day centenary event in Normandy.  The regiment were in the first wave at Gold beach on D day.

Westminster Abbey

The Guidon of the Westminster Dragoons was laid up in its regimental church, Westminster Abbey, near the coronation chair on 7 February 2019 .  It was instigated by Paul Knapman DL who is Honorary Colonel.

HRH The Countess of Wessex , as Patron of the Defence Medical Welfare Service , attended dinner at the National Police Bravery Awards at the Dorchester Hotel on  13 July 2017.   Seen here being presented to Amber Rudd, Home Secretary, Cressida Dick, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police , and Steve White , Chair of the Police Federation.

HRH The Countess of Wessex presented PC Michael Otterson , PC Sara Currie , and Sgt. Elliott Richardson with the Region 2 Bravery Award.  They also received the overall award at the conclusion of the evening.
